Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 39–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “County” means a county of the State and, unless expressly provided otherwise, Baltimore City.\n(c) (1) “Special retirement or pension system” means a retirement or pension system that:\n(i) provides retirement or pension benefits; and\n(ii) allows a county executive, county council member, county commissioner, or appointed official to participate.\n(2) “Special retirement or pension system” does not include:\n(i) a defined contribution plan with benefits determined by an actuarial computation based on employee contributions and the accrued return on those contributions; or\n(ii) a retirement or pension plan that determines benefit amounts using computations or other specific methods enacted as an ordinance by the governing body.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=39-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"74b4b868bb5dc3b8e76901e799d690cc5d96cb4c099427e43fa6db9d2110dc02","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-38-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-39-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
