Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 7–701","heading":"","body":"(a) In this title, “part-time employee” means an employee who works an average of 50% or more but less than 100% of the regular workweek.\n(b) An individual who is a full-time employee who is qualified for or desires to be a full-time employee may not be required to accept part-time employment as a condition of continued or new State employment.\n(c) An individual who is a part-time employee who is qualified for or desires to be a part-time employee may not be required to accept full-time employment as a condition of continued or new State employment.\n(d) (1) In accordance with regulations adopted by the Secretary, a part-time employee is entitled to receive all employment rights, privileges, and benefits that are normally available to a full-time employee in a similar position with a similar grade and length of service.\n(2) Benefits shall be prorated in proportion to the number of hours employed.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=7-701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"a156a9bfe640c03243e58a281bf4ba78e5c1fc4c94a328c4db95ccfd4601bb79","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-7-602","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-8-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
