Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 8–104","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Pay rates in the Standard Pay Plan may be set by:\n(i) a series of pay grades and steps within each grade;\n(ii) fixed rates; or\n(iii) minimum and maximum amounts.\n(2) Pay rates in the Executive Pay Plan may be set by:\n(i) a series of executive pay grades and steps within each grade;\n(ii) fixed rates; or\n(iii) minimum and maximum amounts.\n(b) In setting or amending a pay rate, the Secretary shall consider:\n(1) the prevailing pay rates for comparable services in private and public employment;\n(2) experience;\n(3) living costs;\n(4) benefits; and\n(5) the financial condition and policies of this State.\n(c) A pay rate in either pay plan is subject to any limitations included in the State budget.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=8-104","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"c1c8401dc7fe26497016dc8a5466504a0063a2f06d83f0dbe88a3e1e77e7c99b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-8-103","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-8-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
