Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 9–601","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Catastrophic illness or injury” means a condition that is incapacitating or life threatening as certified by a health care provider, as defined in the federal Family Medical Leave Act.\n(c) “Immediate family” means:\n(1) the spouse of the employee;\n(2) children, including foster and stepchildren of the employee;\n(3) parents, stepparents, or foster parents of the employee;\n(4) brothers and sisters of the employee; and\n(5) grandparents and grandchildren of the employee.\n(d) “Leave Bank” means the State Employees’ Leave Bank.\n(e) “Leave Donation Program” means the Employee-to-Employee Leave Donation Program.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=9-601","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"b85709ec8a535d58721e48a758cd3629e26b4464570d0b4badab7664ec5a9e1a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-508","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
