Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 9–603","heading":"","body":"(a) The Leave Bank consists of donated leave and forfeited annual, personal, and sick leave.\n(b) An employee is a member of the Leave Bank for 2 years from the date on which the employee:\n(1) voluntarily donates at least 8 hours of annual, personal, or sick leave to the Leave Bank in accordance with this title; or\n(2) has at least 8 hours of annual or personal leave placed in the Leave Bank as a result of a forfeiture under § 9-307, § 9-403, or § 9-507 of this title.\n(c) The Secretary may grant leave from the State Employees' Leave Bank to an employee who:\n(1) has exhausted all forms of annual, personal, sick, and compensatory leave because of a serious and prolonged medical condition;\n(2) provides a certificate of illness or disability; and\n(3) (i) is a member of the State Employees' Leave Bank; or\n(ii) is granted an exemption by the Secretary from the membership requirement for good cause.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=9-603","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"2cd2a182e66cc7dbff851a5ce7f5ba448663b1a8f96fb6903015765128354d5e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-602","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-604"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
