Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 9–701","heading":"","body":"(a) Each employee in the State Personnel Management System, except a temporary employee, is entitled to work-related accident leave with sick pay if:\n(1) the employee sustains a disabling personal injury that would be compensable under the Maryland Workers' Compensation Act; and\n(2) a physician examines the employee and certifies that the employee is disabled because of the injury.\n(b) The appointing authority of an employee entitled to work-related accident leave shall notify the employee of the employee's right to file a claim with the Workers' Compensation Commission.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=9-701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"9e4bd6d4809acd4f2c4d6fd4ad0a7a8e4e5b73cc9da6bc43ec1c90492f7c4bed","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-607","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
