Code, State Personnel and Pensions § 9–702","heading":"","body":"(a) An employee may use work-related accident leave:\n(1) beginning on the first day of disability; and\n(2) continuing until the earlier of:\n(i) the day that the employee is able to return to work, as certified by a physician; or\n(ii) 6 months from the day of disability.\n(b) After an employee returns to work, work-related accident leave may be granted for continuing treatment as certified by a physician selected by the appointing authority up to 6 months from the day of the original disability.\n(c) Work-related accident leave may be granted for up to an additional 6 months if:\n(1) the employee is certified by a physician selected or accepted by the appointing authority; and\n(2) no decision has been reached by the Workers' Compensation Commission on the employee's claim.","path":["Article - State Personnel and Pensions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gsp\u0026section=9-702","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:07Z","sha256":"af204330738982a6ee4e4555534ad0cde7a2541266c44c2964b3fc60496b5203","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-701","next":"us-md/md.-code-state-personnel-and-pensions-9-703"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
