Code, Transportation § 11–117.2","heading":"","body":"(a) “Electric low speed scooter” means a vehicle that:\n(1) Is designed to transport only the operator;\n(2) Weighs less than 100 pounds;\n(3) Has single wheels in tandem or a combination of one or two wheels at the front and rear of the vehicle;\n(4) Is equipped with handlebars and a platform designed to be stood on while riding;\n(5) Is solely powered by an electric motor and human power; and\n(6) Is capable of operating at a speed of up to 20 miles per hour.\n(b) “Electric low speed scooter” does not include:\n(1) An electric personal assistive mobility device; or\n(2) An electric wheelchair or other mobility aid used by a disabled individual.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=11-117.2","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"eef6e24119ca9d4012950684c5c301fc7aa36b134265bf607a0fc237a5896001","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-117.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-118"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
