Code, Transportation § 11–134.5","heading":"","body":"(a) “Motor scooter” means a nonpedal vehicle that:\n(1) Has a seat for the operator;\n(2) Has two wheels, of which one is 10 inches or more in diameter;\n(3) Has a step-through chassis;\n(4) Has a motor:\n(i) With a rating of 2.7 brake horsepower or less; or\n(ii) If the motor is an internal combustion engine, with a capacity of 50 cubic centimeters piston displacement or less; and\n(5) Is equipped with an automatic transmission.\n(b) “Motor scooter” does not include:\n(1) An electric low speed scooter; or\n(2) A vehicle that has been manufactured for off–road use, including a motorcycle and an all–terrain vehicle.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=11-134.5","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"8e9a1c45ad1ee66b0e632d7ae65c723090391876d7afe289b91a8f516395dc6e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-134.4","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-135"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
