Code, Transportation § 11–135","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) “Motor vehicle” means, except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a vehicle that:\n(i) Is self–propelled or propelled by electric power obtained from overhead electrical wires; and\n(ii) Is not operated on rails.\n(2) “Motor vehicle” includes a low speed vehicle.\n(b) “Motor vehicle” does not include:\n(1) A moped, as defined in § 11–134.1 of this subtitle;\n(2) A motor scooter, as defined in § 11–134.5 of this subtitle;\n(3) An electric bicycle, as defined in § 11–117.1 of this subtitle;\n(4) An electric low speed scooter, as defined in § 11–117.2 of this subtitle; or\n(5) A personal delivery device, as defined in § 21–104.5 of this article.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=11-135","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"575cef624b9cc7502fc78dea51a53fe6f138913397d050c81dae1325ac52aebc","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-134.5","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-11-136"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
