Code, Transportation § 13–411.1","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “registration plate cover” means any tinted, colored, painted, marked, or illuminated object that is designed to:\n(1) Obscure or block any of the characters of a vehicle’s registration plate; or\n(2) Distort a recorded image of any of the characters of a vehicle’s registration plate recorded by a traffic control signal monitoring system under § 21–202.1 of this article.\n(b) A person may not sell or offer for sale a registration plate cover.\n(c) (1) A person may not advertise for the purpose of promoting the sale of registration plate covers.\n(2) A person may not advertise for or promote the sale of an unlawful registration plate cover by falsely claiming that the registration plate cover is lawful in the State.\n(d) A violation of subsection (c)(2) of this section is:\n(1) An unfair, abusive, or deceptive trade practice within the meaning of Title 13 of the Commercial Law Article; and\n(2) In addition to the penalty under § 27–101 of this article, subject to the enforcement and penalty provisions contained in Title 13 of the Commercial Law Article.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=13-411.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"5c44914b24a1330141209ecf86ea37835d7cac064d09c46be163cf4f4b9df44f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-13-411","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-13-412"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
