Code, Transportation § 13–802","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section and § 13–805 of this subtitle, the fee for each certificate of title issued under this title is $200.\n(b) (1) The fee for each certificate of title issued for a rental vehicle is $100.\n(2) The fee for each certificate of title issued for an off–highway recreational vehicle is $70.\n(3) The fee for each certificate of title issued for a motor scooter or a moped is $40.\n(4) The fee for each certificate of title issued for a trailer with a gross vehicle weight of 3,000 pounds or less is $100 if:\n(i) The trailer is transferred to:\n1. A spouse, child, grandchild, parent, sibling, grandparent, father–in–law, mother–in–law, son–in–law, or daughter–in–law of the transferor; or\n2. A niece or nephew of the transferor if the transferor is at least 65 years of age at the time of the transfer; and\n(ii) No money or other valuable consideration is involved in the transfer.\n(5) On the death of a joint owner of a vehicle, the Administration may not charge a fee for a new certificate of title issued for the vehicle to another joint owner who is the surviving spouse.\n(6) On the death of a sole owner of a vehicle, the Administration may not charge a fee for a new certificate of title issued for the vehicle to a surviving spouse if ownership of the vehicle is transferred in accordance with § 13–114 of this title.\n(c) The Administration may not charge a fee for a certificate of title issued for a vehicle that is transferred to a trust or from a trust to one or more beneficiaries in accordance with § 14.5–1001 of the Estates and Trusts Article.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=13-802","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"e3b5c1b08367d96948a9f0a19e9c659dddb5de868328d065a859f23d1530fe63","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-13-801","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-13-804"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
