Code, Transportation § 15–113","heading":"","body":"(a) Each person who conducts auctions as a business in this State of motor vehicles of a type required to be registered under this article shall keep a record of:\n(1) The name and address of the consignor;\n(2) The date on which it was consigned;\n(3) The year, make, model, and serial number of each vehicle consigned;\n(4) The title number and state where the vehicle was last registered;\n(5) The odometer mileage reading at the time of consignment;\n(6) The name and address of the person to whom the vehicle was sold;\n(7) The selling price; and\n(8) The date of sale.\n(b) During business hours, the records shall be open to inspection by the Administration, by the Department of State Police, or by a law enforcement officer with a county or municipal police department or sheriff’s office who is assigned to an antitheft unit.\n(c) The records required by this section shall be kept for at least 3 years after the transaction to which it applies.\n(d) A person who fails to comply with any requirement under subsections (a) through (c) of this section is subject to a civil penalty not exceeding:\n(1) For a first offense, $500; or\n(2) For a second or subsequent offense, $1,000.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=15-113","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"f53612c6d063a0bd255e41ef3ef2059e4b3bf9aa1726766f3dc29f07891ffde7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-15-112","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-15-113.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
