Code, Transportation § 16–817","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c) of this section, the Administration may not issue a commercial driver’s license or a commercial driver’s instructional permit to any individual:\n(1) Who is not a resident of Maryland; and\n(2) Who is not at least 21 years of age.\n(b) The Administration may issue a Class A, B, or C commercial driver’s license or a commercial driver’s instructional permit to an individual under the age of 21, if the individual is at least 18 years of age. The license:\n(1) May not include a hazardous materials endorsement;\n(2) May not be valid for commercial interstate operation except as permitted by 49 C.F.R. Parts 390 to 399; and\n(3) Shall be valid for commercial intrastate and all noncommercial operation.\n(c) Consistent with the Code of Federal Regulations, the Administration may issue a commercial driver’s license to an applicant domiciled in a foreign country.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=16-817","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"ac3a356cdfae0be814a0d7206c52bcfbc90de0ea1a27283d5c7323707802789b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-16-816","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-16-818"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
