Code, Transportation § 21–104.2","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (b) of this section, a person who operates a golf cart on a county or municipal highway without registration, as authorized under § 13–402(c)(11) of this article:\n(1) May operate the golf cart only:\n(i) On a highway on which the maximum posted speed limit does not exceed:\n1. Except as provided in item 2 of this item, 30 miles per hour; or\n2. In Golden Beach Patuxent Knolls, St. Mary’s County, 35 miles per hour;\n(ii) Between dawn and dusk; and\n(iii) If the golf cart is equipped with lighting devices as required by the Administration;\n(2) Shall keep the golf cart as far to the right of the roadway as feasible; and\n(3) Shall possess a valid driver’s license.\n(b) The governing body of a county or municipality may designate the county or municipal highways under their respective jurisdictions within the county or municipality on which a person may operate a golf cart.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=21-104.2","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"73f248a51954d8b09b22fbfc18cc1009d1add89c90b023a47fe844d3980076a2","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-104.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-104.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
