Code, Transportation § 21–1407","heading":"","body":"(a) The driver of a vehicle may not stop, stand, or park the vehicle on any Authority highway, except:\n(1) If necessary to avoid injury or damage to any person or property;\n(2) In compliance with the lawful direction of an authorized employee of the Authority highway;\n(3) At a designated area for the transaction of business at an Administration building; or\n(4) If the vehicle is disabled or involved in an accident, in which case the vehicle shall be moved, if possible:\n(i) To the shoulder of the roadway;\n(ii) Adjacent to the emergency walkway on a bridge; or\n(iii) As otherwise directed by a patrol officer.\n(b) Notwithstanding § 25–201(b) of this article, the Maryland Transportation Authority may adopt regulations governing the removal of vehicles left unattended for 12 or more hours on any Authority highway.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=21-1407","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"b6bea1dcd61fe3eeae8862f27ab1a41d340c39109890fc8a63bc96795b612614","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-1406","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-1408"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
