Code, Transportation § 21–901.1","heading":"","body":"(a) A person is guilty of reckless driving if the person drives a motor vehicle:\n(1) In wanton or willful disregard for the safety of persons or property;\n(2) In a manner that indicates a wanton or willful disregard for the safety of persons or property; or\n(3) At a speed at least 30 miles per hour above the posted speed limit.\n(b) A person is guilty of negligent driving if the person drives a motor vehicle in a careless or imprudent manner that endangers any property or the life or person of any individual.\n(c) (1) A person convicted of a violation of subsection (a) of this section is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 60 days or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both.\n(2) A person convicted of a violation of subsection (b) of this section is subject to a fine not exceeding $750.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=21-901.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"c4c072d8c5cc8a5d1c647f0f1548ff523509bb067ac44ed514e47eb7ac41cbb3","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-901","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-21-901.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
