Code, Transportation § 8–212","heading":"","body":"(a) Each member of the Commission shall take the oath required by Article I, § 9 of the Maryland Constitution.\n(b) (1) Each regional member of the Commission serves for a term of 5 years and until his successor is appointed and qualifies. The terms of these members shall be staggered as required by prior appointments, three of which were made for a 1–year term beginning June 1, 1959, three of which were made for a 2–year term beginning June 1, 1959, and one of which was made for a 4–year term beginning June 1, 1969.\n(2) A member appointed to fill a vacancy in an unexpired term serves only for the remainder of that term.\n(c) A regional member of the Commission is entitled to the compensation provided in the State budget, but in no event may compensation exceed $10,000 per member annually.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=8-212","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"9c7a09c1a4657e7dd458dcc99519fde3fc3d0e73700caf2b912b0dda8ddba351","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-8-211","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-8-213"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
