Code, Transportation § 8–727","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this part regulates the erection and maintenance of an outdoor sign along or near a federal-aid primary highway, only if:\n(1) The sign is wholly or partly visible from the main traveled way of the highway; and\n(2) The sign is:\n(i) 660 feet or less from the nearest edge of the right-of-way of the highway; or\n(ii) More than 660 feet from the nearest edge of the right-of-way of the highway, and intended to be read from the main traveled way of the highway.\n(b) Except as provided in §§ 8-734 and 8-735 of this subtitle as to the removal of nonconforming signs, this part does not apply to:\n(1) An outdoor sign that is 660 feet or less from the nearest edge of a federal-aid primary highway, if the sign was erected on or before July 1, 1968; or\n(2) An outdoor sign that is more than 660 feet from the nearest edge of a federal-aid primary highway, if the sign was erected on or before July 1, 1975.\n(c) This part does not apply to on premise outdoor signs.","path":["Article - Transportation"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gtr\u0026section=8-727","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T20:01:38Z","sha256":"2b9f17b3415d67d0a7dd1d137e7e44b0a6cb019f787d2cd3b90aee94b0cdc91e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-8-726","next":"us-md/md.-code-transportation-8-728"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
