The annual registration fee for special equipment, based on gross weight, is $10 for equipment weighing one to 2,000 pounds; $15 for 2,001 to 5,000 pounds; and $20 for over 5,000 pounds.\nRegistrations under this section may be issued for 2 years for a fee twice that of the annual registration fee.\n2.  Exception.  Registration is not required when special equipment is used solely:\nA.  On that part of a public way adjoining the premises of the owner; or\nB.
