Laws § 12.255","heading":"Michigan medicaid benefits trust fund.","body":"Sec. 5.\n\nThe Michigan medicaid benefits trust fund is established in the department of treasury. The medicaid benefits trust fund shall consist only of the following:\n\nInterest and earnings from medicaid benefits trust fund investments.\n\nDonations of money made to the medicaid benefits trust fund from any source.\n\nUnexpended state restricted revenues and local revenues received by the department of community health as a result of additional medicaid special financing payments above the level assumed in the appropriations for the fiscal years 2000, 2001, and 2002.\n\nThe state budget director shall provide a report to the senate, the house of representatives, and the senate and house fiscal agencies 10 days after the issuance of the comprehensive annual financial report of each year that details the amount of funds that are being transferred to the medicaid benefits trust fund. The report shall also identify the amount of medicaid benefits trust fund investment earnings, expenditures, and the medicaid benefits trust fund balance during the last completed fiscal year.\n\nThe state treasurer shall direct the investment of the medicaid benefits trust fund.\n\nMoney in the medicaid benefits trust fund at the close of a fiscal year shall remain in the medicaid benefits trust fund and shall not revert to the general fund.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 12","Act Act-489-of-2000"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-12-255","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"b14dad90ca27309f399437c31a4aaf2ab00c311f2b73b8977c9b265963ce175d","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-12.254","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-12.256"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
