Laws § 15.236","heading":"FOIA coordinator.","body":"Sec. 6.\n\nA public body that is a city, village, township, county, or state department, or under the control of a city, village, township, county, or state department, shall designate an individual as the public body's FOIA coordinator. The FOIA coordinator shall be responsible for accepting and processing requests for the public body's public records under this act and shall be responsible for approving a denial under section 5(4) and (5). In a county not having an executive form of government, the chairperson of the county board of commissioners is designated the FOIA coordinator for that county.\n\nFor all other public bodies, the chief administrative officer of the respective public body is designated the public body's FOIA coordinator.\n\nAn FOIA coordinator may designate another individual to act on his or her behalf in accepting and processing requests for the public body's public records, and in approving a denial under section 5(4) and (5).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 15","Act Act-442-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-15-236","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"9f89bb423d30d3c706dca677e75a71aef67e2d551cbc19958d41c0a7e74dd947","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-15.235","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-15.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
