Laws § 168.409e","heading":"Judge of court of appeals; election; death or disqualification of nominee; term of office.","body":"Sec. 409e.\n\nExcept as otherwise provided in this section, a judge or judges of the court of appeals shall be elected in each appellate court district at the general November election in which judges of the court of appeals are to be elected as provided by law.\n\nIf there are fewer nominees for the office of judge of the court of appeals than there are persons to be elected at the general November election because of the death or disqualification of a nominee less than 66 days before the general November election, then a person shall not be elected at that general November election to any office of judge of the court of appeals for which there is no nominee.\n\nThe term of office for judge of the court of appeals shall be 6 years, commencing at 12 noon on January 1 next following his or her election and shall continue until a successor is elected and qualified.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 168","Act Act-116-of-1954"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-168-409e","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"bcb516cc2c1b20c744c677493c8f3374007330e3c5889ac78df71a03faa17069","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-168.409d","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-168.409f"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
