Laws § 221.20b","heading":"Declaration of road as public highway; complaint; deposit.","body":"Sec. 20b.\n\nA township proceeding under section 20a shall file a complaint for declaration of the road as a public highway in the circuit court of the county in which the road is located. The complaint shall contain or have annexed thereto (a) a copy of the petition from abutting property owners, (b) a description of the length and boundaries of the road, and (c) the names of persons having claims to the road as a private road, including any public utility having facilities located on the road.\n\nBefore proceeding under section 20a the township board may require a deposit from the petitioners of an amount estimated by the township board to be sufficient to pay the cost of all legal proceedings.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 220","Act Act-283-of-1909"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-221-20b","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"6ea14dfbce298b22077a09dd732e0e13992b67a17e0b1dd82dd596047cfc6488","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-221.20a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-221.20c"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
