Laws § 225.2","heading":"Ridesharing programs; administration; duties; appropriation.","body":"Sec. 2.\n\nThe department of state highways and transportation shall administer ridesharing programs in the state and shall do all of the following:\n\nDevelop a comprehensive state ridesharing program. The program shall examine and recommend application of various ridesharing methods, including carpooling, vanpooling, buspooling, park-and-ride lots, and public transportation.\n\nProvide technical assistance to local transportation and planning agencies.\n\nDevelop and maintain computer or manual matching systems for ridesharing programs.\n\nContract with public and private organizations to perform ridesharing matching programs.\n\nDevelop and undertake ridesharing promotional programs.\n\nCoordinate the development of a statewide program of park-and-ride lots.\n\nCoordinate and encourage the development of highway facilities which give preferential treatment to ridesharing vehicles.\n\nDevelop and manage state ridesharing programs.\n\nThe legislature shall annually appropriate sufficient funds to implement this section.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 220","Act Act-283-of-1909"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-225-2","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"d32145d376ec5b80cab0c3307a8221c057128cd19a7de219fab1367163388bfc","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-225.14","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-225.2b"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
