Laws § 257.1257","heading":"Accounts, books, and records.","body":"Sec. 17.\n\n(1) A vehicle protection product warrantor shall keep accurate accounts, books, and records concerning transactions regulated under this act.\n\n(2) A vehicle protection product warrantor's accounts, books, and records shall include all of the following:\n\n(a) Copies of all vehicle protection product warranties.\n\n(b) The name and address of each warranty holder.\n\n(c) The dates, amounts, and descriptions of all receipts, claims, and expenditures.\n\n(3) A vehicle protection product warrantor shall retain all required accounts, books, and records pertaining to each warranty holder for at least 2 years after the specified period of coverage has expired. A warrantor discontinuing business in this state shall maintain its records until it furnishes the department satisfactory proof that it has discharged all obligations to warranty holders in this state.\n\n(4) A vehicle protection product warrantor shall make its accounts, books, and records concerning transactions regulated under this act available to the department for the purpose of examination.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 257","Act Act-263-of-2005"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-257-1257","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"513afdb16af33b8f95b0317482fd967c91206589ae2e650ebd98ad548bfea785","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-257.1255","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-257.1259"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
