Laws § 257.8a","heading":"\"Conviction\" defined.","body":"Sec. 8a.\n\n\"Conviction\" means any of the following:\n\n(a) A final conviction, the payment of a fine, a plea of guilty or nolo contendere if accepted by the court, or a finding of guilt for a criminal law violation or a juvenile adjudication, probate court disposition, or juvenile disposition for a violation that if committed by an adult would be a crime, regardless of whether the penalty is rebated or suspended.\n\n(b) A conviction defined in federal law under 49 CFR 383.5, regarding the operation of a commercial motor vehicle or the operation of a noncommercial motor vehicle operated by a person licensed to operate a commercial motor vehicle.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 257","Act Act-300-of-1949"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-257-8a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"4718154734d75b0195ce9e3f5764f416a0206c8471c41ac0f01dfddbec38b0c1","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-257.83","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-257.8b"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
