Laws § 28.221","heading":"Training school for peace officers; creation, location, subjects.","body":"Sec. 1.\n\nThe department of public safety is hereby authorized to establish and conduct a school for the instruction of law enforcing officers of this state and of the several counties, townships, cities and villages thereof, such school to be known as the Michigan training school for peace officers and to be conducted and the sessions and periods thereof to be held at East Lansing and at such other places in the state as the commissioner of public safety shall designate. Provision shall be made for instruction in the following subjects and such others as the commissioner of public safety shall deem expedient.\n\nIdentification of criminals and fingerprinting;\n\nMethods of crime investigation;\n\nRules of criminal evidence;\n\nPresentation of cases in courts;\n\nMaking of complaints and securing of criminal warrants;\n\nSecuring and use of search warrants;\n\nEnforcement of general criminal laws;\n\nSmall arms instruction;\n\nRegulation of traffic and uniformity in enforcement;\n\nFirst aid;\n\nEthics of the police profession;\n\nCourtesy in performance of duty;\n\nJui Jitsu;\n\nExtent of police authority;\n\nConfessions and statements.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 28","Act Act-211-of-1925"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-28-221","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"ec6616d497d1b86a08146029ea404b3063b86117b68940f4f1ab09695fe19513","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-28.615","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-28.222"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
