Laws § 287.819","heading":"Feeder pigs; origination and movement requirements.","body":"Sec. 19.\n\nFeeder pigs shall originate from a breeding herd whose status has been established as any of the following:\n\nFeeder pig monitored herd.\n\nQualified pseudorabies negative herd.\n\nVaccinated feeder pig monitored herd.\n\nQualified pseudorabies negative gene-altered vaccinated herd.\n\nA herd located in an area recognized as a stage III or equivalent low prevalence area or region as designated by the director.\n\nA herd with any other status classification that is determined by the director to provide reasonable assurance that the pigs are not infected with pseudorabies.\n\nFeeder pigs that do not originate from a herd of origin with a status described in subsection (1) shall be individually tested negative within 30 days prior to movement.\n\nAll feeder pigs sold, loaned, leased, or moved within this state, except those exempted by the state veterinarian, shall be by a direct movement unless the movement is through a swine market where they are held for less than 24 hours.\n\nSwine that are additions to a herd from any other source herd shall not be moved from that herd based on herd status until they have been a part of that herd for at least 120 days prior to movement unless either of the following occurs:\n\nThey are individually tested negative to an official test for pseudorabies which shall be performed no sooner than 30 days after the date of direct movement into the herd.\n\nThey are sold or moved directly to slaughter or through slaughter marketing channels.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 287","Act Act-239-of-1992"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-287-819","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"93908d4d4c8e3b2ad7c973c324e57520274753cdc76374cdf5d991c9554c20d0","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-287.817","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-287.821"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
