Laws § 290.671","heading":"Referendum; requirements; exception; time period.","body":"Sec. 21.\n\nExcept as otherwise provided in subsection (2), all marketing programs established under this act shall be resubmitted to a referendum of the producers during each fifth year of operation.\n\nA producer referendum under subsection (1) is not required for a marketing program if all the following circumstances exist:\n\nThe agricultural commodity or agricultural commodity input subject to the marketing program is involved in a commodity checkoff program established pursuant to federal law.\n\nThe federal commodity checkoff program involving the agricultural commodity provides for a mechanism for a producer referendum.\n\nThe marketing program involving the agricultural commodity or agricultural commodity input is entirely financed by that federal commodity checkoff program.\n\nIf the federal commodity checkoff is suspended or terminated, a marketing program established under this act shall conduct a referendum of the producers within 18 months after the suspension or termination.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 290","Act Act-232-of-1965"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-290-671","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"c442b5df941a8a67d9479e3df26afa130d4a19f1f5b323fde08fa41896433024","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-290.670","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-290.672"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
