Laws § 3.814","heading":"Michigan superconducting super collider commission; creation; membership; vacancy; meetings; election of chairperson and other officers; quorum; action by commission; compensation and expenses.","body":"Sec. 4.\n\nThe Michigan superconducting super collider commission is created in the department of commerce.\n\nThe commission shall consist of the following members:\n\nThe director of commerce or his or her designee.\n\nThe director of the department of natural resources or his or her designee.\n\nThe director of the department of management and budget or his or her designee.\n\nThe director of the state transportation department or his or her designee.\n\nThe director of the state labor department or his or her designee.\n\nThe director of the department of agriculture or his or her designee.\n\nThe chairperson of the department of physics at the university of Michigan or his or her designee.\n\nThe chairperson of the department of physics and astronomy at Michigan state university or his or her designee.\n\nThe chairperson of the department of physics at Wayne state university or his or her designee.\n\nOne individual, appointed by the governor, selected from a list of individuals provided by the senate majority leader.\n\nOne individual, appointed by the governor, selected from a list of individuals provided by the speaker of the house of representatives.\n\nEleven members appointed by the governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, as follows:\n\nTwo individuals from major utility companies.\n\nTwo individuals from labor organizations.\n\nTwo individuals from business or industry.\n\nTwo individuals from environmental organizations.\n\nOne local government official.\n\nOne individual who does not hold a position in state or local government.\n\nOne individual who is a resident of the area of the proposed site of the superconducting super collider.\n\nA vacancy on the commission shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment.\n\nWithin 10 days after all appointments have been made under this section, the commission shall hold its first meeting.\n\nAt the meeting required in subsection (4), the commission shall elect a chairperson and other officers as it considers necessary from among its members.\n\nFollowing the meeting required by subsection (4), the commission shall hold meetings as considered necessary by the chairperson.\n\nA majority of the members of the commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business at a meeting of the commission.
