Laws § 32.1019","heading":"Special court-martial; jurisdiction; powers of punishment.","body":"Sec. 19.\n\n(1) A special court-martial has jurisdiction to try an individual subject to this code for an offense for which the individual may be punished under this code. A special court-martial may adjudge the same punishments as a general court-martial except that the special court-martial may not adjudge the punishments of dishonorable discharge, dismissal, confinement for more than 1 year, a fine of more than $1,000.00, forfeiture of pay exceeding 2/3 pay per month, or forfeiture of pay for more than 1 year.\n\n(2) A bad conduct discharge, a confinement for more than 6 months, or a forfeiture of pay for more than 6 months may not be adjudged if charges and specifications are referred to a special court-martial consisting of a military judge alone.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 32","Act Act-523-of-1980"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-32-1019","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"a47c14a78f4feb39ee224dbb22e954a833c504a496972445daeef66b4dfe0c6e","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-32.1018","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-32.1020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
