Laws § 32.811","heading":"Retirement on completion of not less than 20 years of active service; eligibility; annual amount; amount to be received by spouse upon death of person.","body":"Sec. 411.\n\nA person who has completed not less than 20 years of active service with the national guard or defense force, or both, may retire and receive retirement pay under 1 or more of the following circumstances:\n\nAttainment of 62 years of age.\n\nIneligibility, because of federal law or regulation, for further federal recognition in the person's current grade because of age or length of service, and termination of the person's commission or enlistment in the national guard of the United States.\n\nWithdrawal of the person's federal recognition and termination of the person's commission or enlistment in the national guard of the United States because of physical disqualification from further service.\n\nSeparation from the national guard or defense force under an honorable circumstance.\n\nA person who retires under subsection (1)(a) shall receive pay of $600.00 per year. A person who retires under subsection (1)(b), (c), or (d) shall receive pay of $600.00 per year upon reaching 55 years of age.\n\nUpon the death of a person who has completed not less than 20 years of active service with the national guard or defense force, or both, and who before his or her death met 1 of the circumstances described in subsection (1)(b), (c), or (d), or was still in active service, a surviving spouse shall receive $500.00 per year until death.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 32","Act Act-150-of-1967"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-32-811","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"72b529d603a73587507c59474166fecebc7cfcf4efa13c676ec486fb01df08fe","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-32.810","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-32.815"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
