Laws § 324.17101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 17101.\n\nAs used in this part:\n\n\"Alkaline manganese battery\" means a dry cell battery containing manganese dioxide and zinc electrodes and an alkaline electrolyte.\n\n\"Distributor\" means a person who sells batteries to retailers in this state.\n\n\"Lead acid battery\" means a storage battery, that is used to start an internal combustion engine or as the principal electrical power source for a vehicle, in which the electrodes are grids of lead containing lead oxides that change in composition during charging and discharging, and the electrolyte is dilute sulfuric acid.\n\n\"Manufacturer\" means a person who produces batteries for sale in this state.\n\n\"Mercuric oxide battery\" means a dry cell battery that delivers an essentially constant output voltage throughout its useful life by means of a chemical reaction between zinc and mercuric oxide.\n\n\"Nickel cadmium battery\" means a sealed storage battery that has a nickel anode, a cadmium cathode, and an alkaline electrolyte, that is widely used in cordless appliances.\n\n\"Retailer\" means a person who sells or offers to sell batteries to consumers within this state.\n\n\"Solid waste disposal area\" means a disposal area as defined in part 115.\n\n\"Zinc carbon battery\" means a dry cell battery containing manganese dioxide and zinc electrodes and an electrolyte consisting of ammonium chloride or a zinc chloride solution, or both.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-17101","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"9b6fbfa189e9f47d39d7ffb95e9edb1cfd0538b815d4b7363aa894b2495fe3b6","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.1706","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.17102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
