Laws § 324.17103","heading":"Retailer of lead acid batteries; duties.","body":"Sec. 17103.\n\nA retailer of lead acid batteries shall do all of the following:\n\nAccept, at or near the point at which lead acid batteries are offered for sale, in a quantity at least equal to the number of new lead acid batteries sold by the retailer, used lead acid batteries from customers, if offered by the customers.\n\nPost a written notice in a location that is readily visible to customers within the retail establishment that is at least 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches in size and contains the universal recycling symbol and contains essentially all of the following:\n\nRecycle your used lead acid batteries.\n\nIt is illegal to discard a lead acid battery except by delivery to a retailer, a distributor, a manufacturer, or a collection, recycling, or smelting facility approved by the department.\n\nState law requires retailers to accept used lead acid batteries upon the purchase or within 30 calendar days of the purchase of a lead acid battery.\n\nThe format, design, and wording of the notice described in this section shall be provided to retailers of lead acid batteries by the department.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-17103","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"d6d5b019543a7e13b426956bebac25c3264d848dde76852aefd3ba0fd7a3971b","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.17102","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.17104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
