Laws § 324.35505","heading":"Reports; contents; additional information.","body":"Sec. 35505.\n\nThe committee may require clear and concise reports containing the information listed under subsection (2) and, if applicable, subsection (3) from state departments and state agencies, including, but not limited to, the following:\n\nDepartment of natural resources.\n\nState transportation department.\n\nDepartment of commerce.\n\nDepartment of agriculture.\n\nDepartment of public health.\n\nDepartment of military affairs.\n\nEach reporting department shall prepare for the committee a report that contains an overview of all of the following:\n\nA report pertaining to those activities of the reporting departments that alter biological diversity, noting which ecosystems and species are impacted and the existence of and effectiveness of mitigation measures.\n\nAny other information determined by the committee to be necessary or helpful in preparing the state strategy.\n\nThe costs and benefits of preserving biological diversity and mitigation measures.\n\nIn addition to the information required under subsection (2), the department of natural resources and the department of agriculture shall include in their report, to the extent practical, examples of techniques that are used to improve the protection and maintenance of this state's biological diversity, and the long-term viability of ecosystems and ecosystem processes, including all of the following:\n\nEnhancement of scientific knowledge through improved and more complete biological surveys, and research designed to identify factors limiting population viability or persistence.\n\nIdentification of habitats and species of special concern and methods to protect them.\n\nImprovement of management techniques based on scientific knowledge of the conservation of biological diversity.\n\nEffective restoration methods for ecosystems or species of concern.\n\nBroad-based education efforts regarding the importance of biological diversity and the need for conservation.\n\nUse of areas demonstrating management techniques that conserve or restore native biological diversity.\n\nUse of cooperative programs among government agencies, public and private ventures, and the public sector.\n\nPromotion of sustained yield of natural resources for human benefit.\n\nAny other technique to improve the protection and maintenance of this state's biological diversity, and the long-term viability of ecosystems and ecosystem processes whether or not the technique is in current use if supported by scientific knowledge.\n\nThe costs and benefits associated with activities described in subdivisions (a) to (i).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-35505","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"8eb808ad4859e749a48698347fae3d977953e8b52880bb63dc5be9a7ecc89f09","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.35504","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.35506"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
