Laws § 324.61603","heading":"Expenditures from fund; consultation with operator.","body":"Sec. 61603.\n\nThe supervisor shall expend money from the fund, upon appropriation, only for the following purposes:\n\nFor plugging of abandoned or improperly closed oil or gas wells or response activity or site restoration at oil or gas wells for which no owner or operator is known, for which all owners or operators are insolvent, or at which the supervisor determines there exists an imminent threat to the public health and safety.\n\nFor the reasonable cost of the supervisor for internal administration in connection with the activities included in subdivision (a).\n\nThe supervisor shall consult with the operator of a natural gas storage field prior to plugging any abandoned or improperly closed oil or gas wells within the boundary of the storage field operator's natural gas storage field.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-61603","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"544988ef6ecd5bc8108bc476f611e0ae27e491cb93d3f3cd9248ff8d39fac5d6","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.61602","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.61604"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
