Laws § 324.6311","heading":"Vehicles exempt from inspection requirements of part.","body":"Sec. 6311.\n\nThe following vehicles are exempt from the inspection requirements of this part:\n\nMotor vehicles that are exempted by rules promulgated by the department because of prohibitive inspection problems or inappropriateness for inspection.\n\nA motor vehicle manufactured before the 1975 model year.\n\nVehicles that are licensed as historic vehicles under section 803a of the Michigan vehicle code, Act No. 300 of the Public Acts of 1949, being section 257.803a of the Michigan Compiled Laws.\n\nA motor vehicle that has as its only fuel source an alternative fuel.\n\nA motorcycle.\n\nA motor vehicle used for covert monitoring of inspection facilities.\n\nA new motor vehicle, immediately after issuance of the vehicle's first title until the year of the next biennial inspection for the vehicle model year according to section 6306(5).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-6311","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"6d9fae0cbfae563d1872e2c196dc8dd6121f11406b45e1893fc432820520b1c3","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.63108","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.63110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
