Laws § 324.80102","heading":"Definitions; D to L.","body":"Sec. 80102.\n\nAs used in this part:\n\n(a) \"Dealer\" means a person and an authorized representative of that person who annually purchases from a manufacturer, or who is engaged in selling or manufacturing, 6 or more vessels that require certificates of number under this part.\n\n(b) \"Identification document\" means any of the following:\n\n( i ) A valid Michigan operator's or chauffeur's license.\n\n( ii ) A valid driver's or chauffeur's license issued by an agency, department, or bureau of the United States or another state.\n\n( iii ) An official identification card issued by an agency, department, or bureau of the United States, this state, or another state.\n\n( iv ) An official identification card issued by a political subdivision of this state or another state.\n\n(c) \"Issuing authority\" means the United States coast guard or a state that has a numbering system approved by the United States coast guard.\n\n(d) \"Law of another state\" means a law or ordinance enacted by any of the following:\n\n( i ) Another state.\n\n( ii ) A local unit of government in another state.\n\n( iii ) Canada or a province or territory of Canada.\n\n( iv ) A local unit of government in a province or territory of Canada.\n\n(e) \"Lifeboat\" means a small boat designated and used solely for lifesaving purposes, and does not include a dinghy, tender, speedboat, or other type of craft that is not carried aboard a vessel for lifesaving purposes.\n\n(f) \"Long-term incapacitating injury\" means an injury that causes serious impairment of a body function.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-80102","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"6792402ddb1061febff97b4d1f0d4c41e42faf9b286928e5d0d00a3356f168cb","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.80101","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.80103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
