Laws § 324.82103","heading":"Certificate of registration and registration decal required; exceptions; violation; penalty.","body":"Sec. 82103.\n\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in this part, a snowmobile must not be operated unless the owner first obtains a certificate of registration and a registration decal. The certificate of registration must be secured at the time of purchase or transfer of ownership. A certificate of registration or a registration decal is not required for a snowmobile operated exclusively on lands owned or under the control of the snowmobile owner or for a snowmobile used entirely in a safety education and training program conducted by a certified snowmobile safety instructor and authorized under section 82108.\n\n(2) A person who is convicted of a violation of this section shall be fined not more than $50.00.\n\n(3) Notwithstanding any provision of this part to the contrary, before the start of each snowmobile season, the department shall designate 1 weekend in that snowmobile season during which registration under this part is not required to operate a snowmobile on snowmobile trails.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-82103","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"d35de1d1471225151b01618f10928777af138b77d8c01a7378bf6e2be6d9a06c","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.82102a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.82104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
