Laws § 324.8901","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 8901.\n\nAs used in this part:\n\n(a) \"Litter\" means any of the following:\n\n( i ) Rubbish, refuse, waste material, garbage, offal, paper, glass, cans, bottles, trash, debris, or other foreign substances.\n\n( ii ) A vehicle that is considered abandoned under section 252a of the Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.252a.\n\n( iii ) An abandoned vessel as defined in section 80130f.\n\n( iv ) An ORV that is considered abandoned under section 80130f as made applicable in section 81151.\n\n( v ) A snowmobile that is considered abandoned under section 80130f as made applicable in section 82161.\n\n(b) \"Public or private property or water\" includes, but is not limited to, any of the following:\n\n( i ) The right-of-way of a road or highway, a body of water or watercourse, or the shore or beach of a body of water or watercourse, including the ice above the water.\n\n( ii ) A park, playground, building, refuge, or conservation or recreation area.\n\n( iii ) Residential or farm properties or timberlands.\n\n(c) \"Vehicle\" means a motor vehicle registered or required to be registered under the Michigan vehicle code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.1 to 257.923.\n\n(d) \"Vessel\" means a vessel registered under part 801.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 324","Act Act-451-of-1994"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-324-8901","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"69b92c899390dc5da4c9d933d9518de105ea0f5296fc9170b6c5af870182c7c6","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.8808","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-324.8902"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
