Laws § 333.10202","heading":"Removal of cornea; circumstances.","body":"Sec. 10202.\n\nIn any case in which an autopsy is to be done by a county medical examiner or a county medical examiner causes an autopsy to be done, the cornea of the deceased person may be removed by a person authorized by the county medical examiner.\n\nRemoval under subsection (1) may be made only under the following circumstances:\n\nAn autopsy has already been authorized by the county medical examiner.\n\nThe county medical examiner does not have knowledge of an objection by the next of kin of the decedent to the removal of the cornea.\n\nThe removal of the cornea will not interfere with the course of any subsequent investigation or autopsy or alter post-mortem facial appearance.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-10202","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7f4ea35e75472ddd6bc0fa0711e11f975ca0225a62bbe18fd14a1fab78e6950a","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.10201","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.10203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
