Laws § 333.12701","heading":"Definitions used in MCL 333.12701 to 333.12715.","body":"Sec. 12701.\n\nAs used in sections 12701 to 12715:\n\n\"Person\" means a person as defined in section 1106 or a governmental entity.\n\n\"Pump\" means a mechanical equipment or device used to remove water from a well.\n\n\"Pump installer\" means a person who is qualified to engage in the installation, removal, alteration, or repair of water well pumping equipment in connection with a water well.\n\n\"Well\" means an opening in the surface of the earth for the purpose of removing fresh water or a test well, recharge well, waste disposal well, or a well used temporarily for dewatering purposes during construction.\n\n\"Well drilling contractor\" means a person qualified to engage in well construction, well alteration, or well repair and pump installation, who supervises the construction of water wells and the installation of pumps, and who owns, rents, or leases equipment used in the construction of water wells.\n\nIn addition, article 1 contains general definitions and principles of construction applicable to all articles in this code.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-12701","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"e09bc30ffdbe21d7b8369b0b12b9456149db1780fd4883f2757cab21a2c81ea1","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.12616","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.12703"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
