Laws § 333.17766","heading":"Additional conduct constituting misdemeanor.","body":"Sec. 17766.\n\nExcept as provided in sections 17766d, 17780, and 21418, a person that does any of the following is guilty of a misdemeanor:\n\n(a) Obtains or attempts to obtain a prescription drug by giving a false name to a pharmacist or other authorized seller, prescriber, or dispenser.\n\n(b) Obtains or attempts to obtain a prescription drug by falsely representing that he or she is a lawful prescriber, dispenser, or licensee, or acting on behalf of a lawful prescriber, dispenser, or licensee.\n\n(c) Falsely makes, utters, publishes, passes, alters, or forges a prescription.\n\n(d) Knowingly possesses a false, forged, or altered prescription.\n\n(e) Knowingly attempts to obtain, obtains, or possesses a drug by means of a prescription for other than a legitimate therapeutic purpose, or as a result of a false, forged, or altered prescription.\n\n(f) Possesses or controls for the purpose of resale, or sells, offers to sell, dispenses, or gives away, a drug, pharmaceutical preparation, or chemical that has been dispensed on prescription and has left the control of a pharmacist.\n\n(g) Possesses or controls for the purpose of resale, or sells, offers to sell, dispenses, or gives away, a drug, pharmaceutical preparation, or chemical that has been damaged by heat, smoke, fire, water, or other cause and is unfit for human or animal use.\n\n(h) Prepares or permits the preparation of a prescription drug, except as delegated by a pharmacist.\n\n(i) Sells a drug in bulk or in an open package at auction, unless the sale has been approved in accordance with rules of the board.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-17766","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"4203707b0f057cfdf34c3b41847af609b796fb7c8eea7b75d91a8905e2588e5a","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.17765","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.17766c"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
