Laws § 333.17770","heading":"Exceptions.","body":"Sec. 17770.\n\nExcept as to the labeling of poisonous or deleterious drugs and to adulterating, misbranding, and substituting, this part shall not apply:\n\nTo the sale of paris green, white hellebore, and other insecticides.\n\nTo the sale of any substance for use in the arts.\n\nTo the retailing of non-narcotic, or nonprescription medicine or drug which is prepackaged, fully prepared by the manufacturer or producer for use by the consumer, and labeled in accordance with the requirements of the state and federal act.\n\nTo the sale by merchants of ammonia, sulphur, any nonpoisonous flavoring essences or extracts, salt, bicarbonate of soda, or other prepackaged common household remedies or any food or food product which may also be found in any of the official compendiums and is not also considered as a poisonous, deleterious, or habit forming drug.\n\nTo surgical or dental instruments and accessories, hearing aids, gases, oxygen tents, gas pressure reducing regulators, x-ray apparatus, therapeutic lamps, splints, and stethoscopes, and their component parts and accessories, or to equipment, instruments, apparatus, and contrivances used to render the articles effective in medical, surgical, or dental treatment; or to articles intended for external use.\n\nTo articles or substances intended for generally recognized mechanical, agricultural, horticultural, or industrial consumption or use or photographic chemicals for home use.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-17770","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"3dfb47db00f724d035571a203e16a6929e52e572a558870352e1b63283afc208","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.17768","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.17775"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
