Laws § 333.21703","heading":"Definitions; P to W.","body":"Sec. 21703.\n\n(1) \"Patient\" means a resident.\n\n(2) \"Patient's representative\" or \"resident's representative\" means a person, other than the licensee or an employee or person having a direct or indirect ownership interest in the nursing home, designated in writing by a resident or a resident's guardian for a specific, limited purpose or for general purposes, or, if a written designation of a representative is not made, the guardian of the resident.\n\n(3) \"Relocation\" means the movement of a resident from 1 bed to another or from 1 room to another within the same nursing home or within a certified distinct part of a nursing home.\n\n(4) \"Resident\" means an individual who receives care or services at a nursing home.\n\n(5) \"Transfer\" means the movement of a resident from 1 nursing home to another nursing home or from 1 certified distinct part of a nursing home to another certified distinct part of the same nursing home.\n\n(6) \"Welfare\" means, with reference to a resident, the physical, emotional, or social well-being of a resident in a nursing home, including a resident awaiting transfer or discharge, as documented in the resident's clinical record by a licensed or certified health care professional.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-21703","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"b71ff6860c83c68b6a3e63b0f57bec78ef6ff5bb9f6fe64f48c4732a5d1f51de","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.21702","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.21707"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
