Laws § 333.5601","heading":"“Occupational disease” defined; general definitions and principles of construction.","body":"Sec. 5601.\n\nAs used in this part, \"occupational disease\" means an illness of the human body arising out of and in the course of an individual's employment and having 1 or more of the following characteristics:\n\nIt is caused by a frequently repeated or continuous exposure to a hazardous substance or agent or to a specific industrial practice which is hazardous and which has continued over an extended period of time.\n\nIt is caused by an acute exposure to a hazardous substance or agent.\n\nIt presents symptoms characteristic of an occupational disease known to have resulted in other cases from the same type of specific exposure.\n\nIn addition, article 1 contains general definitions and principles of construction applicable to all articles in this code and part 51 contains definitions applicable to this part.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 333","Act Act-368-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-333-5601","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"335527cc0db0378ae3f49f97fd64abde82adf9722033b7c7f20d35785e110601","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.5571","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-333.5611"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
