Laws § 339.1118","heading":"Prohibited conduct; strictures.","body":"Sec. 1118.\n\nIn addition to other penalties prescribed by law, a licensee who commits 1 or more of the following shall be subject to the strictures set forth in article 6:\n\nAs a student, receiving compensation for performing the services of a barber.\n\nContinuing to practice while knowingly having an infectious or communicable disease.\n\nOperating in an unsanitary manner; failure to abide by sanitation standards set forth in rules authorized under this article.\n\nWilfully violating the health and safety rules of any political subdivision.\n\nAiding an applicant for licensure by misrepresenting a material fact.\n\nFailing to notify the department within 30 days of a change of name or address.\n\nAllowing a license to be used by an unlicensed person.\n\nHiring or permitting an unlicensed person or student to work in a barbershop as a barber or permitting an unlicensed person to attend barber college as a student.\n\nOperating as a barber from premises not licensed under this article, except as otherwise provided in this article.\n\nRefusal to allow a board member or representative of the department to inspect during regular business hours premises where barbering services are rendered.\n\nNegligent, incompetent, or careless practice causing damage to a person's hair, skin, scalp, nails, or organs.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 339","Act Act-299-of-1980"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-339-1118","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"9212cd5056a3b176eea7051ae5851061667d45a4df5c75829c070c60869605a6","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-339.1117","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-339.1201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
