Laws § 37.1206","heading":"Prohibited notices, advertisements, inquiries, applications, and records.","body":"Sec. 206.\n\nAn employer, labor organization, or employment agency shall not print or publish or cause to be printed or published a notice or advertisement relating to employment by the employer or membership in or a classification or referral for employment by the labor organization, or relating to a classification or referral for employment by the employment agency, indicating a preference, limitation, specification, or discrimination, based on a disability that is unrelated to the individual's ability to perform the duties of a particular job or position.\n\nExcept as permitted by applicable federal law, an employer or employment agency shall not:\n\nMake or use a written or oral inquiry or form of application that elicits or attempts to elicit information concerning the disability of a prospective employee for reasons contrary to the provisions or purposes of this act.\n\nMake or keep a record of information or disclose information concerning the disability of a prospective employee for reasons contrary to the provisions or purposes of this act.\n\nMake or use a written or oral inquiry or form of application that expresses a preference, limitation, or specification based on the disability of a prospective employee for reasons contrary to the provisions or purposes of this act.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 37","Act Act-220-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-37-1206","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"dd491eb8f04541e25f82ee060bf4bf9dfe42d3825f277eff18869f7700110101","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-37.1205","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-37.1208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
