Laws § 380.1165","heading":"Financial education programs.","body":"Sec. 1165.\n\nNot later than July 1, 2002, the department shall develop or adopt, and shall make available to schools, 1 or more model programs for youth financial education. A program under this section shall be designed to incorporate financial education throughout the curriculum for grades K to 12 and shall be based on the concept of achieving financial literacy through the teaching of personal financial management skills and the basic principles involved with earning, spending, saving, borrowing, and investing.\n\nEach school district, local act school district, and public school academy is encouraged to adopt and implement the model financial education programs developed under subsection (1) or 1 or more similar financial education programs.\n\nTo the extent that federal funds are available for these purposes, the department shall use those funds for grants to public schools and other measures to encourage implementation of financial education programs.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 380","Act Act-451-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-380-1165","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7bf5e8851dd38250bffde4ffc2eeda3bce744c3e299ac4047842d2d0e6d59407","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1164b","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1166"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
